Chumash Public Library

Serving our community and beyond with the wealth of knowledge and information.

Features

The Maker Space at the Chumash Public Library holds all the tools you need to learn a new craft or perfect an existing one. Our equipment is available on a first-come first-served basis and cannot be reserved ahead of time. If an item is in use, you may add your name to a wait-list.
The Maker Space is available to patrons 14 years and older. Younger visitors have access to crafts in the Children's Library.

Due to high-demand, items are available to patrons for limited time. Please see a complete list of available tools and their availability below.

Items with time-limits:

  • Sewing and Embroidery Machines - 2 Hours
  • Cricut Machine - 1 Hour
  • 3D Printer - Only approved items can be printed. Subject to longer wait times due to extended printing times.
  • Drafting Table - 2 Hours

Items with no time-limits:

  • Drawing & Painting Materials
  • Hand Sewing Materials
  • Knitting & Crocheting Materials
  • Jewelry-Making Tools

Our Maker Space is constantly being added to with new supplies and donations from our community,
so stop by to see what's new!

We encourage patrons to come prepared with their designs when using the Cricut and 3D printing machines for a quicker printing process. If there are no patrons waiting to use items with a time-limit, we allow existing users to continue use until this time comes.

Seed Library

In addition to our crafting items, we store our organic seed library collection here in the Maker Space. Sign up for our mailing list to keep up with upcoming classes on sustainable gardening, home-composting, and more!
We welcome organic, non-GMO seed donations at any time.

How it works:

1. Take up to 5 seed packets from our collection as well as their instructional cards. Let our Circulation Desk know which packets you have chosen. 2. Grow your seeds and enjoy! Make sure to follow instructions and look for tips on our library's website if needed. 3. Optional, but appreciated:
Collect seeds from your healthiest plants and return them next time you visit the library for fellow patrons to grow next season!
